Mindsiege and Mindsurge by Heather Sunseri

Mindsiege (Mindspeak, #2)Mindsurge (Mindspeak, #3)

Books 2 and 3 of the Mindspeak trilogy by Heather Sunseri.

Goodreads Summary: Mindsiege: An intruder has seized control of Lexi Matthew’s mind, putting those closest to her in grave danger.
When someone snakes into Lexi’s head and threatens Jack’s life at Lexi’s own hand, she must quickly decide: leave Jack and the web of lies and controversial medical science behind in order to protect him, or stay and fight to regain control of her own mind but risk Jack’s life.
Before Lexi can choose, she’s immersed into the underground world of the International Intelligence Agency, where she discovers the world of cloning and mind control is much larger than she and Jack ever imagined and is growing bigger and more dangerous.
As the band of teenage human clones uncovers more of their supernatural abilities, a dominant force inside the IIA is at work to take over their powers. Can Lexi stop the person who has invaded her mind before the IIA captures them all, or will she sacrifice herself to save those she loves?

Mindsurge: Wellington Boarding School is home to human clones, an identity that Lexi Matthews once hoped to escape. Shattered by the loss of her father and then her best friend at the hand of Sandra Whitmeyer, the woman from whom she was created, Lexi Matthews is after one thing…Revenge.
When Sandra sends a series of threatening “gifts” beginning the night of Lexi’s eighteenth birthday, she determines that Sandra will never stop destroying the lives of her and her friends. Once again, Lexi must battle to grasp the complexities of her creation.
As Lexi and Jack discover the horrific details to experiments Sandra is conducting with human life inside her new lab, Lexi decides there’s only one way to end Sandra’s threats. But following that path could cost her everything—including Jack.

My review: I read these two books back to back and there wasn’t even enough time in between to write a blog post so I combined them into one.

This series is so tricky to blog about because so much of the plot was finding out secrets and such and it would definitely be a review full of spoilers. Well I won’t do that to you; I will just write about what I liked about the books vaguely and you’ll have to find out all of the plot twists for yourself.

Well starting with the love interest(s): yes there may be more than one in there! Woops…well not so much of a spoiler! What kind of fun romance is it if there aren’t two amazing men fighting for one girl. It just so happens that the second is someone I would have never even guessed! The other is Jack of course…sweet dependable Jack. I love him the more I read about him and I enjoyed being with him if only in these few books.

The plots of these books were amazing and I was addicted…dangerously addicted. I can’t believe how in depth the author went into this world, but I loved feeling like I lived in it for the short time it took me to fly through these pages. There were so many characters and some characters that I didn’t like in the beginning came around and I will say no more.

This series was amazing and I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes scifi romance books. I loved it! You can buy book two here.

Mindspeak by Heather Sunseri

Goodreads summary: She was created for a purpose so revolutionary, someone was willing to kill for it.
Seventeen-year-old Lexi Matthews keeps two secrets from her elite boarding school classmates—she’s the daughter of a famous and controversial geneticist, and she can influence people’s thoughts.
But after new student Jack DeWeese heals her broken arm with an anything-but-simple touch, he forces Lexi to face a new reality—her abilities reach much further than speaking to the minds of others.
After Lexi’s father goes missing and she receives threatening emails, she can’t decide whether to fall into Jack’s arms or run and hide.
As Lexi seeks answers to what she and Jack are, she discovers a truth more unsettling than anything her science books can teach. And letting Jack into her life of secrets is not only a threat to her very existence, but it just might break her heart wide open.

My review:

Hello blogging world, it has been too long! I am finally on summer break and back to reading!

This book exceeded my expectations and made me remember why I love reading. It also created an unhealthy addiction which caused me to read instead of doing things like cooking dinner…

Anyway, the main character Lexi was so amusing and real. I love books where the main character has “powers” and it makes me want to be them…and when they get a guy who starts out sketchy but turns out to be totally swoon-worthy like jack, it makes the book even more worth reading.

The book started out somewhat normal, and Lexi was just going about her life not knowing that there was a huge secret and a bunch of people wanting to capture and maybe kill her! The powers (I’m not sure what else to call them) only developed and got more awesome which I loved! And the romance was just enough to not turn the book into a sappy romance book but kept it an awesome scifi book with a romantic interest!

I can’t really share much of the plot without ruining everything for you so I’ll just say that it is amazing and there is a twist in the plot around every corner!

I was addicted to this book for only a few days and when it ended I started the next and I will do a review on the next soon! I definitely recommend reading the first book though! You can get it here for FREE!
