The Return (Titan #1)

Goodreads Summary: The Fates are cackling their bony asses off…

It’s been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they’ve given him have been violent and bloody–which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth. He’s got to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet.

Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy’s deal might be, but it’s a good bet that his arrival means the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her.

But it might be the unlikely attraction simmering between her and the golden-eyed, secret-keeping Seth that may prove to be the most dangerous thing of all.

Because history has once again been flipped to repeat.

My Review:

Hello fellow bloggers! I could not be more excited about this series! If you have been following me for a while you probably know I don’t like to start a series until all of the books are out because I just cannot handle the pain of a cliffhanger. Lucky for me, the final book in this series came out last month and I was more than excited to buy the series and read it without coming up for air.

I have read every book JLA has written as Jennifer L. Armentrout and as J. Lynn and I have never ever disliked one of the books so I knew this book would be no different. As soon as I read page one I was hooked and I knew that I wasn’t doing anything else besides reading the whole day. While reading the Covenant series, there was a time when I was team Seth, granted it didn’t last long with him going all crazy-ass-psycho on us, but still, I loved Seth at a point and I was interested to see what JLA was going to do with a story about him. Let me just say that she did not disappoint. I love Seth as much as and more than I did during the Covenant series. He’s a bad-ass-swoon-worthy-I-wish-he-was-mine type of character and even though he has some disturbing thoughts because he’s Seth, I still love him.

The new female lead Josie is an interesting character and the fact that she’s something else entirely made me pretty hooked to see what was going to happen with her. It’s kind of weird going straight from the Covenant series to this series because Alex, the female lead of the covenant series, was super tough and awesome and such a smart-ass and although Josie has a little of that in her, she’s a pretty normal girl and doesn’t have the aggression Alex did. As of right now I still think I like Alex more, but we’ll see what happens as she learns to fight some more.

This book, unlike the others JLA has written, switches POV between Josie and Seth and I really like getting to read from different perspectives. Sometimes that irritates me in books because I grow attached to one character but in this case I think it’s a good mix. Honestly, if we had to spend 100% of the time in Seth’s head, we would all have our heads in the gutter, our aggression would know no limits, and we would all go crazy because Seth is honestly kind of crazy, so breaking it up a bit is good.

The sexual tension killed me. Seriously. Why does she do this to me every time?! Probably because it’s brilliant and she is brilliant…even though I hate it I also kind of love it at the same time. I also didn’t realize this was an adult novel, so she goes more in detail in the more inappropriate aspects of the book, but hey, I’m not complaining. I also LOVE greek mythology and I have a love of book violence like fighting and training and this book definitely delivers. How could it not with Seth as the lead?

I honestly cannot wait to read the next book and see what happens. I have been forcing myself to do things like eat, sleep, and go to work…please read this series. If you haven’t read the Covenant series, read that one first. You will not regret it! You can buy book one here.
