Intuition (Premonition #2) by Amy Bartol
I don’t open my eyes so I can’t see him, but I can smell him. He thickens the air I breathe, choking me with his scent…his aroma. I shiver. I have to resist. If I’m not strong, then I will be relegated to the same fate as this predator whose sickness infects me even now. But now, I crave him and he knows that; he has been counting on my need to end the gnawing pain. How he would savor my surrender. I’m alive, but how much longer will it take until I beg him not to be?
This book was frustrating but I still couldn’t put it down! I’ll start off by saying that I hate when the main woman character becomes a martyr. In this case that isn’t exactly what happened but Evie really annoyed me in the beginning and I wished I could have just stayed with Reed. I was depressed in real life the entire day because of this book and the emotional roller coaster it put me through.
I actually loved Russell a lot more in this book once I got to read from his point of view. Usually I do not like it when authors make me read another character’s point of view and abandon that of the main character like in Twilight when we have to read through a couple hundred pages of Jacob and even though I love him I always want to skip that part to get back to Edward…I thought that was how this book was going to be but I actually liked it and thought it was just as entertaining as the Evie sections.
I loved Zee, Buns, and Brownie! Especially Zee. The minor characters helped make the story as amazing as it was.
Some of the story line was actually slightly disturbing, but I loved it anyway. The entire book was really stressful and sad but I am still in love with it. Because of Reed. He is one of the most amazing, attractive, sexiest book boyfriends of all time and I am so completely in love with him. I cannot wait to get more of him but at the same time I don’t want the series to end because I will have to leave him. Yes, he is that good.
Definitely read this series if you like fantasy books. Please. You owe it to yourselves. You can buy this book here.
Inescapable (The Premonition #1) by Amy Bartol
My name is Evie Claremont and this was to be the making of me–my freshman year of college. I’d been hoping that once I’d arrived on Crestwood’s campus, the nightmare that I’ve been having would go away. It hasn’t.
I may be an inexperienced seventeen-year-old, but I’m grounded…sane. I look for rational explanations to even the strangest circumstances. Since meeting sophomore Reed Wellington, however, nothing makes any sense. Whenever he’s near, I feel an attraction to him–a magnetic kind of force pulling me towards him. I know what you’re thinking…that sounds fairly awesome. Yeah, it would be…if he liked me, but Reed acts as if I’m the worst thing that has ever happened to Crestwood…or him. But get this, for some reason every time I turn around he’s there, barging into my life.
What is the secret that he’s keeping from me? I’m hoping that it’s anything but what I suspect: that he’s not exactly normal…and neither am I. So, maybe Crestwood won’t be the making of me, but it could be the breaking of me. I’ve been left to wonder if the dark future my dream is foretelling is…inescapable.
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book because I didn’t read the summary of it before I started reading it but I have to say that I really liked it. The story in the beginning before any plot twists happened was relatable because she is just starting college and then everything that happens after that is anything but normal. I love books like this one and I won’t say what any of the plot twists are because that is the basis of book one, but it was such a fun read and it was one of those books that made me forget I was reading and I felt like I was in Evie’s world.
Obviously the main male figure who seems sketchy and doesn’t like her at first is the main love interest, that is never a surprise. However, that is always my favorite part of the relationship in any series because I love feeling the transition from not liking each other to loving each other. This book made me feel like I was falling in love with Reed which made it even better. The only part I didn’t like about this book was how they fell in love so fast. I know it’s a fantasy book and they always end up falling in love but I felt like in this book they went from not liking each other to being in love in only a few pages. It was super abrupt and it actually annoyed me more than I thought it would. Even with that said, I am still in love with Reed and I cannot wait to get more of him.
Russell was an okay guy and the story with him made the book even more interesting but I didn’t like him. I think I was supposed to be torn between him and Reed but there was honestly no competition because I kind of just wanted him to go away… Freddie was an amazing character and I loved him and I wanted him to be my friend but I was really mad at the author at the end because of what she did with him. Buns and Brownie were amazing friends and I wanted to be their friends too because they seem to have so much fun. I like the story line and what the author did with their characters at the end. The ending of this book was ridiculous and I actually had to take time off from reading for a couple of days to let it sink in because I was so upset and blown away with everything the author did.
All of the story elements of this story made me addicted and I just wanted to forget about this world and go into that one and pretend like Reed was my perfect boyfriend and I cannot wait to read the next book!
I would definitely recommend this series for Reed alone…you can buy the book here.
